Margaret T. Ling is Account Executive and Counsel at First American Title Insurance Company – National Commercial Services. Prior, Margaret was Claims Counsel at First American Title Insurance Company. Previously, Margaret was Vice President of Business Development and New York Counsel at Couch Braunsdorf Insurance Group, Liberty Corner, New Jersey. At Couch Braunsdorf, Margaret was New York Counsel to Couch’s Title Insurance and Professional Liability Insurance Divisions. Previous to this position, Margaret was Senior Counsel and National Coordinator at Liberty Title Agency, LLC, New York City as well as Agency and Underwriting Counsel at Ticor Title Insurance Company and Stewart Title Insurance Companies where she was responsible for all title and legal underwriting for over 250 title agents throughout New York State. Margaret also served as the New York Multicultural Liaison for the Fidelity National Title Group where she was involved in the education and training of all Fidelity Company associates in understanding the emerging diverse multicultural real estate market in New York City.
Margaret also held the position of Agency Legal Counsel at Titleserv, LLC; Intracoastal Abstract and CHM Abstract, LLC. Previous to Margaret’s positions as in house legal counsel in the title industry, Margaret was in private practice specializing in real estate law.
Margaret received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History, Cum Laude from Barnard College-Columbia University and her Juris Doctor degree from New York Law School. She is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, Appellate Division, Second Department.
Margaret is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Asian Bar Association of New York where she is also Chairperson of the Real Estate Committee. At the Asian Bar Association of New York, Margaret is also an active member of the Student Outreach Committee; the Young Lawyer’s Committee; and the Small Firm/Solo Practice Committee. She is also a member of the Barnard Business Professional Women’s Association; a member of the New York State Bar Association and it’s Real Property Committee; Condominium and Cooperative Committee and the Diversity Committee; a member of the Municipal Agency Committee of the New York State Land Title Association; a member of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association; a member of the Asian Pacific Lawyer’s Association of New Jersey; a member of the Korean Lawyer’s Association; a member of Asian Women in Business; a member of the Asian Real Estate Association; a member of the Chinese American Real Estate Association; a member of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals; a member of the National Association of Female Executives; a member of the United States Golf Association and an active Volunteer Golf Coach in the Metropolitan First Tee Program of New York/New Jersey. She has also been an active PGA Volunteer with the PGA Barclays Golf Tournament since 2008. Since 2011 and continuing for the upcoming 2012 Barclay’s Tournament, Margaret has been chosen by the PGA to be the Chair of the Barclay’s Pro-Am Committee.
